TROW WINS JUNIOR ORDER OF MERIT Mark
Trow of the Llanymynech Golf Club has won the Welsh Golfing Union Junior Order
of Merit. Trow was always near or at the top of the table from the beginning of
the season and with his excellent win at the Clwyd Open was always going to be
difficult to overtake. Trow
claimed the number one spot from Welsh Boys Champion, Adam Runcie by reaching
the last 16 of the British Boys Championship at Hunstanton and has recently been
selected to represent AFTER

RUNCIE – WELSH BOYS CHAMPION Adam
Runcie of the host club, Abergele defeated Monmouthshire’s Richard Merchant in
the final of the Welsh Boys Championship. Runcie was four under par when the
match was decided on the 17th hole. Earlier
in the week James Frazer of Morriston won the Welsh Boys Stroke Play
Championship with rounds of 69 and 71 to ease home by two strokes from
Creigiau’ s Geraint Phillips. Adam Runcie now moves to the top of the Junior Order of Merit with only one event remaining, the Boys Amateur Championship at Hunstanton Golf Club from 8 – 13 August 2005.
HOWIE
2nd AT GOLD CROSS Jamie Howie from
Royal St David’s produced a wonderful performance at the St David’s Gold
Cross finishing in 2nd place behind Tim Dykes. Howie was a
model of consistency with rounds of 69, 67, 68 and 71 to finish 3 clear of Zac
Gould. Mark Trow had
another solid tournament finishing in a tie for 7th while Adam Runcie
tied for 13th. The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the Welsh Boys Championship from 20-22 July
at Abergele Golf Club.
JUNIORS
PERFOM AT TUCKER Richard
Merchant (Monmouthshire) and Tom Benjamin ( Merchant
finished in 9th place after rounds of 77, 71, 66 and 72 while
Benjamin was 10th scoring 73, 71, 72 and 72. Merchant
collects 30 Junior Order of Merit points while Benjamin collects 28. Other
good performances came from Joe Vickery ( The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the South Wales Boys Open that will be
played at the
ENOCH
& TROW CONTINUE GOOD FORM Rhys
Enoch and Mark Trow continue to perform well and are dominating the Welsh
Golfing Union Junior Order of Merit. Enoch
finished 2nd at the Welsh Open Youths and joint 11th at
the Aberdovey Trophy while Trow finished joint 9th at the Open Youths
and tied with Enoch for 11th spot at the Aberconwy. The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the Welsh Open Stroke Play that will be
played at Royal St David’s Golf Club from 17-19 June.
ENOCH
WINS NORTH WALES BOYS Rhys
Enoch based in Truro, Cornwall won his first Junior Order of Merit title at
Rhuddlan and Abergele at the weekend. Enoch’s
four round total of 280 was five strokes clear of his nearest challenger, Adam
Runcie of Abergele. In third place
was the in form Mark Trow with Lee Lewis and Jason Shufflebotham tying for 4th. The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the Welsh Open Youths that will be played at
Langland Bay on 28/29 May.
TROW
DEFEATS MEN Mark
Trow from Llanymynech showed the men a clean pair of heels over the weekend at
the Clwyd Open. Trow
won by two strokes from Welsh International Ben Westgate and former Boy
International Gareth Edwards. Trow
goes to the top of the Junior Order of Merit with over a 100 point advantage
over 2nd placed Zac Gould. Marc
Lewis from Borth & Ynyslas was 5th, Gower’s Lee Lewis tied 6th
and Adam Runcie joint 11th. The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the North Wales Boys Open that will be
played at Abergele and Rhuddlan on 14/15 May.
GOULD STAYS ON TOP
Zac
Gould from the Vale of Glamorgan tied for 11th place at the Trubshaw
Cup over the weekend and retains his pole position on the Welsh Golfing Union
Junior Order of Merit. Other
points scorers were Mark Trow (Llanymynech) and Adam Runcie (Abergele) who
collect 7.75 points each after trying for 16th at the Trubshaw. The
next Junior Order of Merit event is the Clwyd Open that will be played at
Wrexham and Prestatyn on 7/8 May.
GREAT
FINISH BY GOULD Zac
Gould from the Vale of Glamorgan claimed 4th place at the Duncan
Putter over the weekend and moves into pole position on the Welsh Golfing Union
Junior Order of Merit. The
Gower’s Lee Lewis finished in 26th spot while Rhys Enoch from Truro
was one shot further back in 28th. At
the Peter McEvoy Trophy, Enoch finished in a tie for 20th while Zac
Gould and David Lovell tied for 22nd. The
next Konica Minolta Order of Merit event is the Trubshaw Cup that will be played
at Ashburnham and Tenby on 23/24 April.
TROW
LEADS THE WAY Mark
Trow from Llanymynech won the Central Wales Boys at the weekend and now leads
the Welsh Golfing Union Junior Order of Merit having collected 50 points from
his victory. Trow’s
scores of 73 at Borth & Ynyslas and 69 at Aberdovey ensured a one-stroke
victory over the chasing pack of Richard Merchant (Monmouthshire), Daniel Willet
(Rotherham) and Jamie Howie (Royal St David’s). There
were also some promising early season performances from Adam Runcie (5th)
Williams Mills of Hawkstone Park (6th) and Rhys Enoch who tied for 7th
with Zac Gould. The next event is the Peter McEvoy Trophy, 13/14 April at Copt Heath Golf Club followed by the Duncan Putter at Southerndown on 16/17 April.
