WIL JAMES PHD. Dr. Wil James is a BASES accredited Sports Psychologist and sports science consultant to the Welsh Golfing Union. He received his doctorate in sport psychology in 1999, having studied the issue of motivational orientation and focus in emerging elite golfers. Wil has worked with the Welsh Golfing Union since 1995 and has helped with player development by introducing improved player support in the areas of fitness, lifestyle, and mental preparation. Wil worked with the GB & I squads between 1995 and 1998. He continues to support a number of professional players including David Park, winner of the Compaq European Grand Prix at Slaley Hall in 1999. Wil is a member of the English Cricket Board’s sport psychology team, is currently working with the England U15 squad and is also heavily involved with Somerset County Cricket Club’s Academy having helped in its initiation and development since 1996. Wil also works with a variety of other professional and Summer & Winter Olympic sports including Football, Rugby Union, Judo & Bob-Skeleton. He has also been a National Coaching Foundation (NCF) Key Course Tutor since 1993 and is a United Kingdom Sports Institute (UKSI) ACE Tutor.
